Displaying Your Decorating Talents with Seashells‭

July 17, 2009

One of the most common items we see no matter whether we live near the seashore or not are seashells. If you go to the dollar stores, you can often find bags of different shapes of these and there are lots you can do with them.

The larger seashells look quite nice displays on a table with some smaller ones scattered about. If you have an old mirror that has a grungy looking frame than simply glue smaller various ones around the frame and you will have a unique looking mirror. In fact if used in the bathroom you could build your whole theme around this.

If you pick up some inexpensive candleholders, particularly the glass types these look wonderful with shells glued on them and show the different colors of the shells once the candles within the holders are lit.

If you find the right size shell and it makes a great ashtray perhaps for your outdoor use. Even plain boxes can be decorated with them also. They make a great gift item if you use them with your arts and crafts. You can do a lot spruce up your home in an inexpensive way.

Once you get used to starting to work with decorating with seashells then it will not be long before you are going around your home seeing what you can use these little gems. Even on something like a simple lamp base, you can make it look totally different and new by putting a few of these around it or you can even become quite elaborate and cover your entire base with them.

Make sure that when you are going on your shopping adventure to buy your seashells that you really look around at a variety of stores and pick up different colors and sizes and shapes. Go from the very large down to the small. Most often, you can find quite a selection in variety stores.

Then if you have friends that are going the way to one of the resort, you can ask them to bring you back a bag of authentic shells. With these particular shells coming right back from the ocean it would be wise to soak them in salt water for day or two and then let them dry out entirely.
