Sarah Palin, Discovery’s Newest Reality Star
July 6, 2010
Discovery networks appears to have taken steps, perhaps including low interest loans, to be the highest bidder for the Sarah Palin reality show she and producer Mark Burnett have been proposing to networks. While representatives of Discovery have yet to comment, many news sources have reported that Sarah Palin’s reality show will be an “Alaskan Travelogue”. Before purchasing Sarah Palin’s reality show, Discovery’s most expensive show had been their $25 million “Earth” series.
The plans for Sarah Palin’s reality show
As one of the most controversial women in American right now, Sarah Palin’s reality show is sure to draw viewership. Reports are that this reality show will cost Discovery over $1 million per episode. This will not be Sarah Palin’s first appearance on Discovery Networks or on reality TV – she had a cameo in a 2008 documentary about the Iditarod race. The release date and name of the Sarah Palin reality show have not yet been announced. According to many of the reports, the Sarah Palin / Alaska reality show “will center on interesting characters, traditions and attractions in the 49th state – with the ex-VP candidate as a guide”.
Reality shows are not Sarah Palin’s favorite
Sarah Palin’s relationship with the media has not always been a comfortable one. In “Going Rogue,” Sarah Palin made a point of blaming the media and the campaign for being “intrusive” and “difficult to handle”. In previous interviews, Sarah Palin was asked about the possibility of a reality show in the future, and she reacted with surprise, stating that she wanted the media to stay away from her family. This is not to say that Sarah Palin has shied away from all media attention – she is now a commentator on FOX news and has done hundreds of media interviews. Since bursting onto the scene as a Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin has gotten more than a few guaranteed payday loans on her celebrity.
