Insulated Cotton Duck Jackets

November 26, 2009

Your choice of hooded duck jackets should be a little easier after viewing the following information provided for your garment choice.

These work jackets are what I would class as durable work type jackets designs. They are designed to be tough and stand the abrasion that is associated with industrial work conditions. The duck material also provides a very good water resistant barrier and helps to keep the wind and cold out. These jacket styles can of course be used as everyday wear and they should last you quite a long time along with providing the warmth you require.

Depending on your circumstances the designs come in the 4.0 oz medium weight and the 6.0 oz heavy weight insulation. When exposed to cold weather or if a person may be standing around quite frequently the heavy weight insulation will provide the extra warmth needed. The medium weight is good for conditions where you might be moving around a lot or doing physical work where overheating could be a concern. You will be able to see which design of duck coats is suitable for you along with the cost as the heavy weight are more expensive then the medium weight but depending on your conditions it may well be worth the extra cost.

The heavy weight line is the Blizzard Pruf series and the medium weight is the Zero Zone  series and they are made by Walls Industries. The waist length, chore coat and the hooded jacket styles are available in both the heavy weight and medium weight insulation. When making your jacket design choice the following is a brief description of each. I have not given a complete description of each style just something that you can go on when you look at the description of the individual styles online.

- Hooded Duck Jacket

In the heavy weight line there are two styles of the hooded styles that combine the water proof breath ability along with the light weight toughness of nylon. The 32510 hooded duck jacket which is waist length and and also the style 32515 coat which is hip length. The big difference I see in these two styles is the length of the garment and that the waist length jacket style has a fleece lined body and the coat is a polyester fill lining. The hooded styles are also available in the tough cotton duck fabric. The style 35040 comes in both a tough outer shell which is water resistant and the softer feeling washed fabric.

-100% Cotton Duck

There is also the cotton duck insulated jacket design which is again waist length and the chore coat that is the longer version. These two style are made without an attached hood although there is the option to purchase a snap on hood. The cotton duck outer shell is a somewhat stiffer more rugged fabric then the nylon design and is more durable.

The medium weight insulated jackets come in much the same styles and options as the 100% cotton duck although the nylon hoodies are not manufactured in this weight series.

I hope this has been helpful as a starting point for you to follow as when you see the garment descriptions you can view a more detailed breakdown of the options available such as pockets, hand warmers and such.
