Ford Finally Makes a Hybrid Worth Buying

Ever since the Taurus took a nose dive a few years ago, Ford has been looking for a suitable replacement to challenge the Accord and Camry in the mid-sized car segment.People are really starting to notice the new Hybrid power plant modification in the Fusion.The 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show.  What makes this Ford so special is the excellent in-town gas mileage that the hybrid can get.The Fusion hybrid gets a fuel economy rating of 41 MPG which beats its main competitor, the camry, by almost 10 more MPG; the Fusion even betters the Civic Hybrid in the city.  The Fusion’s electric engine can power the car up to 47 MPH without any help from the gas engine.  Already there have been many automotive magazines that have employed this system to achieve much better MPG ratings then the EPA estimates.

The Ford.The Smart Gauge is a set of gauges built into the display.there are 2 hybrid information displays, one on each side of the gauge cluster that give a nice readout.The driver can see the amount of gasoline and the amount of electric charge left in the batteris through the 1st info screen.The 2nd information monitor shows the tachometer and the electric mode function.The 3rd monitor shows motor and batter power.Additional power consumption and power to the wheels are shown in the last data screen.Information Displays reveal fuel consumption, Miles Per Gallon account, journey record, and antifreeze levels.   The real time MPG information can show drivers which driving style is best for fuel economy.

The nav screen shows the Hybrid Energy Flow data.This display will exhibit the five modes of the Hybrid Pwer Train in cluding things like the regenerative braking, the elestric engine boost, and various hybrid and electric drive systems, and finally the charge while at idle.

What is really cool about the Fusion is that ford used reclaimed yarns to make the seats, no other hybrid can claim this.Tired of watching Toyota and Honda benifit off new hybrid vehicles, Ford decided to add a new hybrid vehicle to their line-up that will apeal to the masses.
