When Janice was in high school, she had acquired a reputation as an individual who studied much of the time and who rarely, if ever, “painted the town red” by drinking with her classmates. She seemed highly motivated to excel academically so that she would be able to pursue a career that she not only enjoyed but one that also gave her some security from a financial point of view.

After much reflection, finally she came to a decision that she wanted to be a trial lawyer. In order to realize this goal, however, she would first have to attend four years of undergrad education.

After Graduating From High School Janice Gets Accepted Into A Highly Rated Undergrad University as a Foundation For a Career as a Lawyer

After Janice graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into an illustrious program in economics. Her justification for this decision was that this subject would be good preparation for law school and wouldn’t be indistinguishable from the bulk of law school applicants who choose political science as their undergraduate minor or major.

After graduating with a 3.85 GPA at the undergrad level, she applied to and was accepted at a nationally ranked law school at one of the Pacific Ten universities.

She enjoyed her legal studies but on rare occasions she was flooded with all the work that had to be undertaken at law school. In much the same way as she had done in her high school and undergraduate days, nonetheless, she made pals painlessly but barely took part in social functions until the term was done.

After Being Jubilant With the Fact That She Had Done Very Well on Her Tests, Janice Felt Like Celebrating

Janice was the kind of individual who worked in a diligent manner to accomplish her goal and then would take a couple of days off when she could. As is the case, nevertheless, a good number of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations were not associated with drinking. Clearly, Janice was anything but a partygoer. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were completed and being delighted with the fact that she had done very well on her finals, because of this, she wanted to let her hair down and have some fun.

Drinking at a Local Tavern Results in An Alcohol Overdose, Calling The Emergency Number, and An Ambulance Ride to An Alcohol Rehab Facility

So Janice and several of her classmates went to a local tavern where they had a few beers. As the hours passed, Janice persisted in drinking without having any concerns about tests or research projects the following day. In truth, Janice revealed to her classmates how delighted she was to let her hair down and have some fun drinking with her classmates.

As the evening advanced, Janice and her friends continued to drink. In point of fact, she was having such a good time that she didn’t want the night to come to an end. It was almost as if she was making up for lost time and making an attempt to condense a year’s worth of excitement into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” it needs to be stressed, seldom works. In truth, when Janice went to the restroom and vomited, her pals started to get anxious about her wellbeing.

Around twenty-five minutes later when Janice started to slur her words, speak in a confused manner, and then pass out, in spite of this, her classmates instantaneously realized that they needed to call the emergency number and ask for emergency assistance because they believed that Janice was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Once Janice was in the rehab hospital, the lead physician confirmed what her buddies had assumed, to be exact, that Janice had far more alcohol than her body could process and, as a result, she experienced an alcohol overdose.

After the medical team pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were observable, Janice was moved to the recovery room. After staying roughly two hours in recovery, Janice was then transferred to one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the most life-threatening part of her hospitalization had passed and all of her vital signs were normal once again.

In response to Janice’s medical predicament, her buddies attentively phoned her Mother and Father. Consequently, early the next morning, her Mom and Dad and her best friends went to the hospital to visit Janice and check on her medical progress.

Janice Comes an Inch From Losing Her Life, is Pleased to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Excessive and Irresponsible Manner

Janice was conscious of the fact that she came close to dying and, as a result, was happy to be alive. Her Mother and Father knew how relentlessly she worked in graduate school and how little she let herself have any fun. Nevertheless, they also realized that Janice needed to steer clear of irresponsible drinking.

As a consequence, they suggested that in the future, whenever a drinking situation unfolds, that she always drink in moderation. Janice was fine with this and gave her word to her friends and to her Mom and Dad that she would never again drink in an irresponsible manner. In Janice’s own words, “I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local town newspaper. I now know that excessive and abusive drinking is not for me. I declare that this will never happen again.”

Fortunately, Janice was not only “school smart” but she also displayed a lot of common sense. Stated differently, she rapidly comprehended that she had made an error in judgment and made up her mind that she would never make the same mistake again. In fact, she now understood that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this form of hazardous drinking can end in death.
