Could I keep a largemouth bass in a 75 gallon aquarium?
September 21, 2008
Sally enquired:
They get to 18 inches. I’m a fairly experienced fish keeper so I know how to keep a bass. I have done research and located a fish farm in my area that I could buy a 1 inch large mouth bass. Also, could I maybe put 2 largemouths in a 75 gallon? Could I put 1 largemouth bass and 1 channel catfish in a 75 gallon. Channel catfish get to around 20 inches. I have also found a fish farm to supply a channel cat. Please don’t give me that “one inch of fish to one gallon of water” bologna. Thanks for all answers!

I wouldn’t put more then one of these species in a 75 gallon tank, since they get really huge
I think a 150 would be suitable for all the fish you would like to keep
Hope that helps
Good luck

put in one bass. and they grow a lot more than 18inches. the ones in my pond that size are very young. and channel cats get huge way more than 20inchs. i caught one that was 27inches in my pond behind my house and it wasnt full grown.
a 75 is gonna last you a while but not for the entire life of the fish. and you need a lot of filtration.
You could keep two bass in a 75 gallon aquarium but it would be tight. You could probably squeeze a channel catfish in with one bass but I wouldn’t try it.Hope this helps.
