Do I need a heater for a 75 gallon largemouth bass tank?

largemouth bass
Sally enquired:

I know I asked this same question earlier, but everyone told me that one is not needed. What I am asking here is would it do any good to have one, or would my bass not even care.

No They live under ice in the winter so room temperature will work fine. I have done this with perch , bass.

    Hello!
Bass are cool-water fish, so they do not need a heater, but you might want to have one in they if you have a cold night in your house. You can always keep it on a low setting to have in your tank. They are pretty inexpensive, and will always help your fish.

Well, aren’t mouthbass tropical fish? If they are, then you need one but if they aren’t then you need one.

I live in Wisconsin and our bass live under the ice all winter long. They do not need a heater.

P.S. In Wisconsin keeping bass in a tank is illegal. Better check the laws where you live to be safe. Contact your local DNR.
