Costa Caleta Await Your Pleasure For Drinking, Eating, Playing, Sunbathing, And Simply Having A Wonderful Vacation

February 12, 2009

My days in Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste & El Castillo as it’s also known; is a place I have called home for more than 4 years now. And its somewhere very special indeed I love the pace of life here, the costs of living, and the standard of living.

It has rained for more than twenty-four hours, which hasn’t occurred for nearly a year or so, and it was at least another year before that since rained last.

I don’t mind it, but I have to say when I hear ex-pats, who moan about missing English weather, whats to miss?

The snow, the sleet, the rain, the cold, and yes, the occasional sunny spell. Which seem to me (as I have UK TV), to be in a decreasingly short supply indeed.

But enough of all that moaning; you should come and check out Fuerteventura and Costa Caleta in particular. Its a quiet place, and one where you can have lots of fun one day, and a quiet peaceful time, the next.

There are loads of bars and cafes, sightseeing opportunities, trips and excursions, and interseting cycle and hiking routes.

The look of Fuerteventura is a little different, but someone once said, “it’s strangely beautiful”, and I have stolen that for my own ever since. I would love to give this phrase a home, but I cannot remember where it came from. Some describe it as the moons surface, but it has mountains, areas of natural beauty, indigenous wildlife, and a great culture.

The main areas of Fuerteventura are Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Puerto del Rosario and Jandia, with Puerto del Rosario being the Islands Capital. It’s really a business capital as it is not really a tourism spot, but its a great place for bars and restaurants as well as shopping and practicing your Spanish.

Jandia is 90 miles or so to the south, and is mainly German tourists, and its great for beautiful beaches, shopping and having fun.

Corralejo is the northern most town, and is considered by most to be the tourism capital with costa caleta coming a close 2nd, at least for the Irish and the Brits.

Come and visit us in costa caleta, and wherever you stay (or whatever its called), you’ll have a great time.
