Every Businessman’s Travel Companion
February 28, 2009
Traveling is always a component of any business transactions. Therefore, businessmen should be able to come up with dependable organizational and packing skills to ensure that you have all the items you need for your business appointments before leaving.
First things first, your valuable items. Things like passports, credit cards, bills, business cards, or identification cards must be properly secured. Safeguard these valuable but sensitive items by using a passport cover, business card holder, or money Clips. If possible, produce a copy for each of them for emergency cases.
Since the main purpose of your travel is to attend to business transactions, it is then important to display a professional image when you meet other business professionals. Hence, carefully choose the clothing you take with you on the trip to ensure you have the appropriate attire to wear during those professional meetings. If you’re trying to seal a business deal, creating an impression is worth half of your efforts.
The amount of items you need to pack for your business travel is determined by the number of days you will spend traveling. Also, the number of the meetings or conferences that you must attend will determine how many professional suits or dress you need to bring with you. If possible, bring extra suits or dress because urgent or unplanned meetings could spring up. The same considerations must also be applied for your shoes and footwear. Try to vary the type of footwear you will bring, such that you have one to use during business meetings, one for casual use, and a sporty and comfortable one.
In terms of gadgets, you can opt to bring your laptop computers to keep in touch with the office or for quick means to take notes during the meeting. However, you need to take proper precaution and must bring reliable containers for these valuable items not only to protect them from damage, but also from the possibility of theft.
In grooming and other essentials, you need to write down a list of the items that you need. This will prevent missing out on tiny but essential items. Although most toiletries are provided in the hotel that you will be staying in, it is best to bring your own in case the hotel lacks them or you are particular when it comes to using hygienic products.
Other helpful items to bring include a clothes steamer to free wrinkles on your clothes. A cigarette case, especially for smokers, to prevent your box of cigarette from being crushed by other items in your luggage. If you are taking any medication, find a tiny pouch or container wherein you can place all your medications in one container so you can easily find them whenever you need to take your medicines.
Traveling, indeed, is tricky. But the trickier part comes with packing for travel. However, proper organization will help you achieve a meaningful, safe, and productive business travel.
