When two people get married whether in a civil ceremony or religious one, it is called a wedding; the attitude of western populations towards marriage has undergone many changes recently. Elected and appointed officials can carry out a marriage ceremony which is usually called a civil wedding. For people that elect this type of ceremony it is not important to them if God or religion is referred to in such a brief service. Often, this type of service will take place in a judge’s chambers, town or city hall or any other specially designated place.
