Natural Weight Loss Plan
March 31, 2008
Natural weight loss is a big subject today for many people who do not understand the principle of eating only the amount they need for the amount physical activity they perform; advice like this is for the most part ignored. This advice should be easy to comprehend – at least you would think it was; a third of overweight Americans and millions globally, would disagree with this advice. Of course, once you are overweight, you usually want to trim down for a whole lot of reasons, some related to health, others having to do with looks.
The hard thing for people to understand is it is easier to maintain your natural weight than loose extra pounds once you have put them on. This is something that all of us know deep down, that if we do not watch what we eat and how much we exercise, then we are doomed to an overweight future.
Health experts say that most people who are into losing weight usually stray and tend to go back to their old eating and non-exercising habits even after they learn to enjoy low-fat eating. Extra weight often results in health issues and can negatively impact on one’s emotional state and self-esteem but all this can be cured with a healthy, natural weight loss program.
The problem is that weight gain puts a strain on the body’s ability to fight illness and many of today’s health issues are primarily affecting overweight individuals. If you think about it, losing excess weight by natural methods is the most acceptable way to get rid of those extra pounds but too many people want a ‘quick fix’ system.
If you are planning to use a natural weight loss approach then its success will depend on the meals you eat which should be low in fat, high in fiber, some protein and carbohydrates. A meal containing this group would be something like a baked potato, vegetables and some meat, lean of course but it would not contain gravy or sour cream.
Health experts say that dietary fat promotes weight gain because it is a very dense source of calories and you store those calories as body fat easier than calories from other sources. Despite the number of either low fat or zero fat foods on the market, it’s a surprise that the American people continue to put on weight, but there is a very good reason for this.
Whilst completely false, the perception is that you can basically eat exactly what you want provided it is fat-free but there are still calories in the food which can easily be converted to body fat. If you really want to lose weight through a program you will need to dump the fat free products and eat small healthy snacks that are high in nutrition.
Schools of thought differ on this subject but many nutritionists agree that eating smaller meals with a snack every 3 to four hours or between meals could be beneficial providing main meals are not missed. It’s not always easy to lose weight, but if you take the time and focus on natural weight loss through sensible, controlled eating and exercise you will achieve lasting results.
